A Tribe Called Quest是由Q-Tip, Phief Dawg和DJ Ali Shaheed組成的團體，有時會再加上Jairobi White。相似的團體還有Native Tongue, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers。ATCQ最大的特色在於，與其取樣R&B或是Soul，更喜歡取樣Jazz。ATCQ往往以聰明的歌詞和讓你聞之點頭的音樂，和單純的Fun取勝。

ATCQ成立於1985，Q-tip和Phief一起在皇后區長大，後來Q-Tip在高中時遇到來自布魯克林的DJ Ali Shaheed。之後(1988)來自Jungle Brothers的Africa Baby Bam替三人取了團名，從此開始表演生涯。93年，ATCQ發行了第三張專輯Midnight Marauders，這張專輯被大眾認為比較像是傳統的Rap Music，而不是ATCQ原本富有的實驗性音樂。這張專輯的封面和歌詞本，印製了超過五十張熟悉的臉，代表著饒舌音樂的多樣性。包含了De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, Beastie Boys, Ice-T......這張專輯也被Heavy D.認為是獲得了商業性的成功。

這次的翻譯是來自第三張專輯的歌曲，同時也是ATCQ最著名的歌Electric Relaxation。ATCQ喜歡帶來歡樂的音樂，但是這首歌裡有點色情和戲謔的文字卻在下張專輯裡大量減少，有人認為是因為Q-Tip在96年信奉伊斯蘭教的關係。

*2 afrika bambaataa 為平息黑幫互鬥所創力的組織，主旨為love peace unity

*3 jam 跟 get down都有放鬆跟sex的意思 we can get down也是ATCQ的一曲

*4 knock the boots是h-town的歌 而knock the boots就是做愛的暗喻

*5 饒舌團體1993年發行了單曲Above The Rim

*6 above the rim指玩出超出常人的表現 力如灌籃或是alley-ops，而above the rim跟ball都有指涉打球跟做愛     並都可用來形容事業做很大，有異於常人的成就

*7 drop dimes字面上是投入硬幣，指在投幣式公共電話打電話告密，這裡Q-tip用來說他想透露想與對方做愛，但對方一定不會了解、注意到。

*8這裡shout out英非混血女歌手莎黛的歌曲love is stronger than pride

而teflon是塗抹在不沾鍋上的鍍料，特點是摩擦係數極低，不易沾染。又約翰•約瑟夫•高蒂，曾是美國黑手黨甘比諾犯罪家族的教父，被媒體稱為Teflon Don，因為他不像其他與他同期的黑手黨會迴避媒體，反而很常出現在鎂光燈下，由於他能言善道又獲得三次無罪判決，媒體便為他取一個不沾鍋的小名，q-tip在這揉合了這兩個概念。

*9 poontang是vagina的俚語，q-tip說他可以一直做愛服務女性，直到留下味道為止，而不是射完就點事後煙，這很浪漫的！

*10 ho此詞原指女性為公車香爐人人插，但這邊女性用ho指稱phife有點性別倒置，因為一般來說大眾是接受男性多交的。由於當個rapper常會有妹仔到處散布關於你性生活的八卦，讓你難繼續事業，phife在ATCQ早期常會在歌詞中捍衛他的人格。

描述女方愛對方到無法自拔，這裡q-tip用男方的視角翻玩這句歌詞

*12 shout out LL cool J的歌曲Back Seat，其中副歌就唱著Back seat of my jeep, let’s swing an episode

*13 The little man in the boat是陰核的暗喻，要讓他沉船當然要用舌頭啊

*14 但phife從後面敲他，暗示他用doggy style，而hernia是疝氣，吹噓他體力強，做再多次也不會得疝氣。

*15這裡是一個雙關，seaman跟semen(精液)同音，而Seaman's Furniture是紐約的低價平民連鎖家具店，賣便宜且品質普通的家具。所以在沙發上翻滾後沙發變得破爛，當然就是「得到一個seaman牌家具了」，歌詞聽起來也可理解成是「射在沙發上，現在你有個沾滿精液的家具了」

*17典故來自小說人鼠之間，但是不能夠理解...
